- Now, before you can actually upgrade to Windows 10, I want to take through just an overview of the actual process to upgrading to Windows 10. It's fairly straightforward, but there are key things you have to know like what is the proper upgrade path to get the free version of Windows 10. As well, what are some key requirements? So, let's take a look at that, and let's start with Windows 7. Now, if you currently have Windows 7 loaded on your desktop, and you want to move forward to Windows 10, the pathways are fairly straightforward. So, if you have Windows 7 Home Basic or Windows 7 Home Premium, you're gonna get Windows 10 Home edition. So, you're gonna be able to upgrade to that version for free. If you have Windows 7 Professional or Windows 7 Ultimate, you actually will be able to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro. Now, obviously, if you like those versions, the free upgrade is going to cover you.
