- So as we're trying to understand Windows 7 -- we've talked about basic protocols -- Windows 7 is a standard-based solution in terms of the use of IP addressing DNS. So far more standards-based, but there's extra tools built in, that we've been showing you throughout the Windows 7 networking lessons. Let's take a look at one of the new features of Windows 7 that I personally perceive to be very powerful, particularly as a security engineer as well. This concept of network profiles. I'll look at the basic Windows 7 firewall, and then at the very end we'll give you kind of a sneak peak of Windows Firewall with advanced security.
