Manage resource mailboxes
- Resource mailboxes are used in Exchange 2010 to either represent a conference room of some type or a piece of equipment like a projector or a t.v that would reside somewhere in your organization that would need to be checked out to a user. So creating these resources is done just like you would do creating a regular mailbox. Under recipient configuration, under mailbox you can just come in here, either right click or go into the actions pane and run new mailbox. Instead of selecting user mailbox, this time you'll just select room or equipment. I'm gonna create our conference room mailbox so I'll leave this room mailbox selected. Hit next. Then I'm gonna create a new active directory user for this mailbox and click on next. And I'm gonna call it conference room 25. And we'll put the alias as CR 25. Now notice here that the password field is grayed out and this is because the user account will be created as a disabled active directory user account because this is really gonna be a…
