Connected service concepts
- [Instructor] So as mentioned, the phrase connected service is often used as a generic term, and we are sort of using it that way in this session, but we're also talking about the actual tooling that's labeled as connected service or connected services when creating Universal Windows Platform apps. The concept of connected services is designed to encapsulate the complexity involved in connecting to services, along with some other helpful features that get automated, like package management, like adding Nougat packages automatically, and creating Getting Started guidance on the fly. So the idea of connected services has actually been around for a number of iterations in Universal Windows Platform development, and still includes the ability to connect to Azure API services and Rest APIs, but in this session when we talk about connected services, I'm really talking about these packaged, encapsulated services such as the Office 365 APIs or cloud storage with Azure Storage.
