Microsoft will publish updates to Windows on a regular basis. Often, Windows will automatically install these updates to keep things fresh and up-to-date. Look at some of the options you have for controlling when these automatic updates happen. Some updates require the computer to re-start, so it can be good to adjust these settings so your computer does not attempt to install updates and restart when you're using it.
- [Instructor] We saw some information on updates…very briefly earlier in this course.…Updates are important for keeping…your computer running smoothly and securely.…Periodically, Microsoft will make updates available…to fix bugs or improve the functionality of Windows.…By default, those updates will download…and install automatically.…But there is an option to manually check for updates…and there are some settings that you can adjust…for how those automatic updates work.…So of course to see how this works,…we're going to go into settings,…and I want to go to update and security.…
And here we want to make sure…we're on the section for Windows update.…And here, if there are any updates available,…you'll see them listed.…So if there's anything that has not yet been installed,…but is available to install,…you'll see it listed here on this page.…If you see some updates available,…then you'll also see a button to install them now.…Which you can do if you want…so you can manually start those installations.…So it'll take a little bit of time…
