- [Instructor] Windows 10 has a built in firewall that protects your computer from hackers, malware, and similar threats. When enabled it looks at all the data coming into and out of your computer, categorizes that data as safe or unsafe, and either lets it pass or blocks it. It does that with the Windows Defender Firewall. Here it is from control panel. The firewall looks at the apps that are trying to pass data. The firewall does this by looking at what app is trying to pass the data through, and using what specific computer port to do it. Remote desktop connections are blocked by default. This is to keep people from accessing your computer without your permission. If you're having trouble with the remote desktop connection, need to make sure that the app is enabled to pass through the firewall. To see which apps are and are not allowed, and for what kind of profile, click allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall and take a look at the list. Look for remote desktop…
