- In order to build a dag you do this either from the shell or the console, I'm going to do this from the console because it's the easiest. So under the database availability groups tab, by default you'll have nothing in here and what I'm going to do is I'm going to create a new database availability group. So I'm going to right click and choose the new database availability group option and when I get into this wizard I'll want to name this something unique so I'm going to call this dag1. Interestingly this'll actually create a cluster network object computer account inactive directory, once you get through this wizard and add some databases to this group. So keep in mind you may see an object in AD with this name, make sure your active directory people don't delete this because they're not sure what it is.
