- [Instructor] Now one more command line tool, I'd like to show you is something called TRACERT, okay? So I'm going to go ahead and type in T-R-A-C-E, before it actually gets to microsoft.com, alright? So you'll notice that right out the gates, the first thing it is, did name resolution, for where it's trying to connect, what IP address is trying to connect to. The next thing you can see on the list, is 192.168.1.254 that is my default gateway. From there I continue through a series of things and what each one of these different results is showing me, is it showing me the different routers out on the internet that I'm hopping around to get from where I'm at right now to www.microsoft.com. Now, this is not necessarily very useful, when it comes to trying to see what the path is to, websites out on the internet like I did here because, well, I'm just getting a bunch of arbitrary IP addresses that mean nothing to me.
