- To demonstrate the use of the IP config command, I'm on a system, on a Windows server 2019 system here. Because this is a command line tool, I'm going to click on start and type in "CMD". That'll give you the ability to open up the command prompt. Here in the command prompt window, I want to show you that first of all, if we just simply type in ip config, and nothing else, real simple, and hit enter, that's about as quick and easy as it gets, right? It shows your IP address, your subnet mask, and your default gateway. Three of the most important pieces of information with regards to your IP configuration. But there is actually more that you can do with IP config. The first thing is let me clear the screen here. Now I'm going to type IP config again and I'm going to hit /?.
