- [Instructor] In Windows Server 2016, we're presented with two types of disks we can create, and it's important to know the different options as well as the differences between the two different types of disks. And they are called basic and dynamic. Let's start with the different options that we have once we go into our file and storage services area, on what we can do with those disks. We can first format the partitions. So, after we create a partition, we can format it in a way that's usable for Windows to actually add and delete data. And we need to also mark the partitions active, so that they are not only there, but also usable. Then we have the option to create and delete primary and extended partitions. And this allows us to start with a clean slate if we don't like the partitions that we have, don't need them anymore, we can delete them and start over by recreating them.
