- [Instructor] The Volume Shadow Copy Service allows administrators to restore files that may have been corrupted, deleted, or changed in a way that requires the restoration of the files to a previous state. There's only a couple of steps to making this work. The first is going to be to right click on one of your drives and choose Properties. Make sure you're logged in as one of the administrators or you will not see the option for shadow copies. Let's go ahead and choose to enable, and this is a message that pops up, just in case you have a slower server or a heavily used server, by turning this on it's going to slow things down and use some of your hard drive space. Just go ahead and click Yes, assuming that you agree with those answers. And now we're seeing that the very first shadow copy is being created, and there it is.
