- [Instructor] Before you can install a guest operating system onto a virtual machine it's very important that you make sure that the virtual machine settings are all configured properly. It's almost kind of like on a real computer going into the BIOS settings and making sure everything is setup properly there. So to take a look at this we're here in the Hyper-V manager and we have our demo virtual machine that's already created and I'm going to right click on that machine and then I'm going to select settings. Now there's a number of settings here and some of them I'll go into in more detail and some of them I'm just going to make quick mention, but we will go through them all. The firmware is basically the boot order. So it's saying what do you want to boot from and right now there's a network adaptor and one hard drive and it's saying we'll boot off the network adaptor first then the hard drive.
