- [Instructor] The network policy server provides two primary benefits to a VPN. We've looked at the first, moving the authentication role away from the boarder router which provides for fewer errors and easier configuration as your network scales and grows and these VPNs have to be created over and over again. And we'll start to see the benefits of that in the next chapter. The second benefit is record keeping. And when I say record keeping I'm talking about more than just logging events. It's been my experience with routing and remote access that just looking at the event logs doesn't give you the complete picture of what's going on in your environment. In NPS accounting we can track specific details of authentication requests and all transactions through the radius server. This information can be helpful for everything from troubleshooting a connection to billing based on how long someone is connected.
