Things you should know

- [Instructor] This course has a lot of demonstrations that walk you through how to configure and use Active Directory certificate services. As such, there are a few things that you should know to get the most out of this course. For starters, the role is called Active Directory Certificate Services because it requires Active Directory. It would be helpful if you were familiar with creating and using an Active Directory domain in a Windows server environment. Second, and this has become a staple of Active Directory environments, we will be using group policy objects to enforce elements of how our certificate servers will be used. It will be helpful if you're familiar with group policy objects. If not, don't worry, we will walk through how to use these. And finally, I'm using a virtual lab environment for all of the demonstrations in this course. I have a Hyper-V server that has 32 core and 64 gigabytes of memory. That's probably low end for being able to run as many virtual machines as I'm using in these demonstrations. The environment that we create has a domain controller that's running Windows Server 2019 and a few Windows 2019 servers that have been joined to that domain each serving different roles. I highly encourage you to create this kind of demonstration environment. Virtualization is a great way to go and you can download a few evaluation copy of Windows Server 2019 from Microsoft that you can use to build these temporary environments. Well, as prerequisites go, that's pretty much it. Let's go ahead and dive in.
