- [Instructor] Microsoft has introduced a number of security updates into Windows Server 2019. The first has to do with Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection. The Windows Defender ATP exploit guard is a new set of host intrusion prevention capabilities. There are four components of this guard that are designed to lock down the device against a wide variety of attack vectors and block behaviors commonly used in various malware attacks. At the same time they're going to enable you to balance security risk against productivity requirements. So what are these four components? Well, first we have attack surface reduction, which is a set of controls that an enterprise can enable to help prevent malware from getting on the machine by blocking suspicious malicious files, scripts, lateral movement, ransomware behavior and email-based threats.
