- [Instructor] Rights Management Services is a role that complements the identity and authentication protections provided by AD FS. Federation Services allow you to control who can access various types of company resources, but authentication methods are not designed to protect the content of a file once it's been accessed. If all of the conditions to access a Word document have been satisfied and a user is viewing the contents of the file the authentication factors have done their job, but another potential risk still exists. If the user intends or maybe it was inadvertent, but they leak information it can be done by saving the file to an alternate location, maybe some type of removable device or Cloud storage effectively extracting the document from the company protections or if the intent was a little more malicious the content of the file could be changed and represented as the original company document.
