- [Instructor] As server administrators,…we can plan for pretty much anything,…and we can control most things.…But one thing that is completely out of our control…is an unforeseen disaster.…Disasters happen and we need to be ready for it.…So the first thing that I want to talk to you about…when it comes to being ready for a disaster…or disaster recovery would be the different types…of backup sites that you can have out there.…The best site that you can have would be a hot site.…
This would be a replica location…to your actual offices,…When I say replica, I mean replica,…as in, it's another facility that has everything in place…and essentially is duplicating the site…that you operate in on a regular basis.…So that in the event that there is a disaster,…in your main site, you can very quickly…switch over to the backup hot site.…
Now even though this is the best option,…when I say best, I mean best, as in, for fastest recovery.…It's not necessarily best because it's also the most costly…and the most different to maintain.…
