- [Narrator] Like most roles on Windows servers, the certificate authority's role is easy enough to install if you happen to know what the questions are going to be and have prepared answers in advance. If you've taken any of my other courses, before, you know that I've always been an advocate for first making a plan. So, let's take a look at these questions so we'll be prepared with the answers and the installation and configuration can go smoothly. The first question that we have has to do with what type of certificate authority we're going to install. Well, we already prepared a hierarchy plan for certificate services and we know that this first server will be a root server, but we haven't yet discussed the difference between enterprise and stand alone. An enterprise certificate authority is integrated with Active Directory. It has the benefit of being automatically known and, therefore, trusted throughout the forest, and it can issue lots of different types of certificates. It has…
