- [Instructor] When it comes to securing individual data in Windows Server 2016, Microsoft has included an encryption mechanism called EFS. EFS stands for the Encrypting File System. Now the actual process of implementing EFS is not that complicated, I will show it to you in just a moment, but I want to first go through and kind of show you what's happening behind the scenes as far as how the cryptography aspect of things is working. So if we take a scenario here where we say that we have a user named John, and John wants to go ahead and secure data so that only he can access it. We all know that we can do this with permissions and things like that, but we're talking about users being able to actually encrypt the data so that only they can access it. And we're going to add to this scenario. We're going to say there is another user named Mary who works closely with John, and John wants to go ahead and add Mary to the list of users who can also access this file. So in order to…
