- [Instructor] It's become a bit of a staple in my Windows server courses that I include a plug for Windows PowerShell. I don't think it started out as a conscious effort to evangelize PowerShell, it's just that having a scripting language designed with Windows Servers in mind, creating its own shell and developer tool, has become such an important part of managing Windows Servers and administering Windows networks that I just can't let it go. PowerShell is basically two things. It is a command shell that has been part of Windows Servers since Server 2008. But some people saw it as just another command environment that allowed them to navigate and manage parts of their machine without a gooey. Many people that I introduce PowerShell to today still respond by saying, oh, so it's like DOS? And, to be fair, PowerShell does have aliases for many of the commands and expressions that you used to type in DOS. Things like cd, dr, copy, and others will run just fine in PowerShell. But…
