- Local Administrator Password Solution, or L.A.P.S. or LAPS allows you to manage the passwords of the built-in local administrator accounts on the computers in your organization. So what is this LAPS exactly? Well, here's the deal. In an enterprise environment we typically would have thousands of member computers in our domain. And each of those computers has a local administrator account which is the account that you use to initially configure the machine and to log on and perform administrative tasks on the individual machine. Well the problem is, is you're kinda stuck with two scenarios, neither of which is good. Scenario A is you have individual passwords for every machine, which is very difficult to manage, or option B, which is the more typical, you end up going with a single password for the local administrator account on every machine.
