Internetworking

- [Instructor] When we look at the rules, and I'm making little air quotes there, the rules of IP addressing we know that a computer by definition can only communicate with another computer that has the same network ID, or in other words a computer that's on the same network. There's no way for a computer to directly communicate with a computer from another network. Now this creates a challenge because it wouldn't be very practical in most enterprise environments to have all the computers all just one big network. And so, we have to talk about a concept called internetworking. And I put an emphasis there on saying the word inter and then networking. Because if you look at the word, it looks like we're saying internet working. Oh hey, speaking of internet, how about that?
