- [Instructor] Much like the installation of Windows itself, the installation and initial configuration of server roles and features is much easier when there's a complete plan to start with. Here we are on the server that we've set aside to be our domain controller, as well as our certificate server. Part of fulfilling those roles means it's also going to be a DNS server. That's a lot for this server to do. The certificate role specifically needs to wait for active directory and DNS to be complete, so we're going to put that one on hold for now. This is the server that's already been configured with an IP address and network information, storage is all done. So, we're ready to start installing roles. Installing roles can be done right here from the server manager. It can also be done in powershell, it can be done in the Windows admin center.
