- [Voiceover] In the last two videos we walked through revoking a certificate and then making sure that everyone knew that the certificate was revoked using Certificate Revocation lists. But the larger an organization gets, the longer the Certification Authority has been in operation. And the more issues the company encounters, the larger that list will become. At some point, we may need to decide that simply passing around the list is impractical. An Online Responder is a certificate services option that can't be reached by HTTP and verify the status of a certificate. This works especially well where certificates are spread over a large area. You'll recall in our scenario that our New England's Certificate Authority needs to serve the needs of locations around the entire New England area covering about five states. The issuing CA could use an Online Responder to process a specific request to verify one certificate without having to send the entire list to the requesting client. You…
