In this video, Robert McMillen talks about how to import, export and copy virtual machines in Cluster Manager. These processes have become changed since 2008 where scripts had to be run to make it work properly. In 2012 an administrator can use the Cluster Manager to easily accomplish all of these tasks in just a few clicks.
- [Voiceover] In this video, we're going to explain the…import, export, and copy of virtual machines in…Cluster Manager. In 2008, you needed to run scripts…to be able to do this procedure, but in 2012 we can do this…simply with a few clicks.…Let's start by going into our Failover Cluster Manager.…We want to first power down our client virtual machine,…and then remove it from the cluster manager.…
Now that doesn't remove it permanently, it only removes…it from the cluster manager. It's still going to be…in the Hyper-V Manager, which is what we want.…Now, let's go ahead and right-click on our client,…and choose export. And now we'll choose the location.…We'll go into our File Explorer and create a new folder.…And we'll call it ClientCopy.…
We'll choose ClientCopy in the select folder,…and click select folder. And then export.…Under the status we can see that the export has begun.…And if we go to our cluster storage in File Explorer…we can see the ClientCopy folder, and we can see…data has already begun to copy in.…
