- [Narrator] In Active Directory Domain Services, when you make a decision that you need to branch out and create an additional domain, you need to determine if that new domain can fall within the existing naming hierarchy or if you need to start with a new name. As far as examples why you might need a new name would possibly be let's say there was some form of merger or acquisition, where you have two companies that have come together. So I want to create a scenario here, that we're going to say that landonhotel, because that's existing domain structure that I have right now. I have landonhotel.local and then I have lhchild.landonhotel.local that's already been created in my environment. Landon Hotel has merged with Globe Bank, okay, and we're going to be part of the same forest. So I have a computer here named GlobeBankDC.
