In this video, Robert McMillen talks about how to delete a cluster or a clustered role in failover cluster manager. This can be done to remove settings no longer needed or to fix a corrupted role or cluster. It can be done in the Failover Cluster Manager which is demonstrated in this video. Properly deleting the cluster is important if recreating the cluster is needed.
- [Voiceover] Now let's cover deleting a cluster role…or a cluster in Windows Server 2012 R2.…In previous videos,…we created a cluster…and added cluster roles into that cluster.…Now we're going to undo that work…because we may need to destroy the cluster,…maybe it's become corrupt,…or we no longer need it.…So we're going to start by removing…any cluster roles before we destroy our cluster.…Many times a cluster role will become corrupt…on a malfunctioning server that has recently crashed.…The good news is that removing the role…doesn't mean the date gets deleted,…and we can add it right back in,…we can also recreate a new cluster…and add that role back in.…
We see in our Failover Cluster Manager two different roles.…Let's go ahead and right-click on the first role…and choose 'remove.'…Go ahead and click 'yes.'…Let's choose our second role and choose 'remove'…and click 'yes.'…Our data is still available on whichever server…is going to continue hosting that data,…it just won't be highly available.…Alright, now our cluster is free of all roles,…
