Decimal vs. binary numbers

- [Speaker] In order to truly be successful at IP addressing, there is a little bit of math that you need to be able to understand. Now, if you were always bad at math in school, and you're kind of freaking out over that, don't, okay? I'm going to tell ya, I'm going to make this as simple as I can for you. Now the first piece of math that you need to understand is, you have to understand the difference between the decimal numbering system, and the binary numbering system. Go ahead, answer it, it's not a trick question. That's right, it's three thousand, four hundred and eighty two. But how do we know that, right? How do we know that that's what that number is? Well be know that because, you know, back in grade school, we learned that each number is in a column, right? We have the thousands column, the hundreds, the tens, and the ones, and we put the three in it's column, right? Three in the thousands column, four in the hundreds column, eight in the tens column, and two in the ones…
