- [Instructor] Just as a physical computer stores data out on a physical hard disk, a virtual machine stores it's data on a virtual hard disk, which interestingly enough is actually a set of files that resides on a physical hard disk. Now there are different types of virtual hard disks that we can work with so let's get in here and take a look at them. Here in the Hyper-V Manager there's a couple things I want you to note. First of all, we already have a demo virtual machine and when we created that virtual machine we did create a virtual hard disk as part of that process, but I'm going to show you that you can create a virtual hard disk on it's own and we do that by right clicking on HOST-1, so our Hyper-V server, and then I'll hover over new and then select hard disk, and this takes me to the New Virtual Hard Disk Wizard.
