Learn how to create a reverse lookup zone. This allows names to be resolved from IP addresses.
- When we think about DNS, we typically think…about name resolution.…And when we think about name resolution,…we typically are thinking about how as humans we think…about that we know the name of a computer…but we don't know the IP address to be able to communicate…on the network, right?…So we say to a DNS server, hey what is the IP address…of a computer with this name and then we get that resolved…and we can communicate on the network.…Well this is all done through the forward lookup zones…there is however an occasional scenario…where we know the IP address and we need to know the name…of the computer that goes with that IP address.…
And this is handled through reverse look up zones.…So I'd like to show you how to create…a reverse look up zone.…To do this, I am in the DNS manager on member one.…And this is a DNS server where we've created…a few forward look up zones.…So if I expand it, you can see here.…I have a primary that I've created called child…dot Landon hotel dot local and I have a secondary zone…for Landon hotel dot local.…
