- [Lecturer] Once you understand the difference between a decimal number and a binary number, then next thing you need to know how to do is how to convert between binary and decimal numbers. Alright? And so the first thing I want to talk to you about here is converting binary numbers into decimal numbers. And the reason I want to start there, is 'cause this is, I'm going to- I'm going to tell you, this is the easier of the two. Okay? (giggle) Um, converting binary to decimal works very similar to the way we just generically were taught how to figure out the value of a number. And down below, I have an eight digit binary number. Okay, one, zero, one, zero, one, zero, one, zero. What I want to do, is I want to convert that one, zero, one, zero, one, zero, one, zero into a decimal number, okay? Something that I can process, I can understand. So the first thing I need to do, it's under each of the column values. And then from there, what we do is we multiply each number times it's column…
