Configuring multiple interfaces per network interface controller (NIC)
- In most cases, assigning one IP Address to one network interface is all you need. But there are situations, however, that require something else. Sometimes you may need one NIC to act as though it were several. Other times, you may want multiple NICs to team up and act as one. Consider for example, a web server. A website may not create a lot of traffic and may not put a huge drain on a physical server, so it's entirely possible that you'll want to have several websites hosted by a single IAS box. But each site needs to be identified separately. It's not uncommon to need a separate IP Address for each different website. The web server in Windows allows you to pick an IP Address assigned to the server, not a physical NIC. So it can be done easily if you have multiple IP Addresses assigned.
