Configure tiered storage
- Windows Server 2016 has a feature called tiered storage, and this feature takes advantage of the slower versus faster hard disk drives. What this does is when we create a storage pool and then we create a disk followed by a volume, we're going to have the option to use tiered storage. When Windows understands that there is a faster hard drive and a slower hard drive in a RAID configuration, then at that time it can take advantage of the faster hard drive by giving it priority to take care of tasks where it needs to be faster. And where it doesn't need to be faster, such as in the case of storage, then it will use the hard disk drive to store the data. Let's take a look and see how that's set up. First we need to create our storage pool, so we're going to be in our server manager and then in our storage section. And we right click on the primordial disk and we choose to create a storage pool.
