Configure file access auditing

- [Narrator] File auditing is a crucial setup piece for any administrator who is tasked with knowing who has accessed files on the network, and what they did with those files. There have been many instances in my career where a file has been deleted or moved away, and no one knew what happened to it until we turned on auditing. Turning on and properly configuring file auditing allows an IT administrator to see and know what changes have been made to files on the servers. Let's take a look and see how we do that. There's two main steps to turning on file auditing, first thing we have to do is go to the properties of the drive where we want to see the auditing. From here we'll click on our security tab, and then click on advanced. Now we'll click on the auditing tab, and we'll click on add. From here, we'll select a principle, and this just basically means, who is it that you want to have this affected. And we're going to say, domain users.
