In this video, Robert McMillen talks about how to set Affinity in Network Load Balancing. Client requests matching the port rule are distributed among active nodes in the farm. When you choose the Multiple Host filtering mode, you need to choose an affinity setting, which determines how a client that is interacting with the cluster during a session will respond.
- [Voiceover] Let's talk about how to configure affinity.…Now, in a previous video, we set up a…network load balanced cluster.…During that set-up, we were asked to pick from…several choices, and one of those was affinity.…Now, the goal of affinity is to have…the fastest network response time to servers in a cluster.…Client requests matching the port rules…are distributed among active nodes in the farm.…When you choose the multiple host filtering mode,…you need to choose an affinity setting,…and this determines how a client is interacting…with the cluster during a session.…
We need to set the N.L.B Affinity,…and there are several of those to choose from.…The first one is none, the second one is single,…and the third one is network.…So let's talk about those.…With affinity set to none, each client traffic…is directed to any node in the cluster,…dependent on existing load.…So if there's a lot of load, it'll go to a different node.…Subsequent traffic from the client will be directed…to any node in the cluster depending on existing load.…
