- [Instructor] In a failover cluster environment, the network load balancing feature distributes traffic across several servers using the TCP/IP networking protocol. By combining two or more computers that are running applications into a single virtual cluster, network load balancing provides reliability and performance for web servers and other mission-critical servers. As you can see in this graphic, we have three different servers, and these three different servers have three different IP addresses. Now the computer at the bottom shows a 192.168.1.1 address, and that is basically a network load balanced, virtual DNS host, which means that when we try to ping, or connect, to a computer with that IP address, any one of the other three computers can respond in order to service the clients. The servers in an NLB, or network load balance cluster, are called hosts, and each host runs a separate copy of the server applications. Network load balancing distributes incoming client requests…
