- [Voiceover] Let's talk about port rules and how that affects network load balancing. Port rules control how a network load balancing cluster functions. If we want to maximize control of various types of TCP IP traffic, we need to set up rules to control how each port's cluster network traffic is handled. The method by which a port's network traffic is handled is called it's filtering mode. There's three different types of filtering mode, as you see here. Multiple hosts, single host, and disable. It's fairly simply how they break down. The multiple hosts option permits all cluster hosts to actively respond to client requests. This is the most common one, so that allows you to have load balancing between different nodes. The second option, single host, only allows one cluster host in the cluster to actively respond to client requests.
