Adding the generic service cluster role

- When programmers create custom programs or databases in Windows Server 2016, they may create services that need to be highly available, so we can add them to our failover cluster. This is done in the Failover Cluster Manager by adding the Generic Service Role. We can do that by right clicking on Roles, and choose Configure Role. The Wizard pops up, we click Next, and then we choose the Generic Service. Here, we click Next, and now we see a list of various different services that we can highlight and make highly available. Let's go ahead and choose one of these services, and click Next. And we'll give it the name, and a special IP address. Make sure it's an IP address that's not being used by anybody else. And the service has to be in both locations. In this case, we don't need any storage, so we'll just go ahead and click Next. And if we have any programs or services that may store the data in the Registry, we can choose those here. Go ahead and click Next. Next, and now it's being…
