Before you answer questions about pay, you need to think about three important numbers. First is the desired rate. Second, your asking rate. And third, your walkaway rate. Now the first number is what your desired rate is. This is how much you'd like to make on the job. This number is going to depend on what your research says about how much you should expect to be paid for the job. You're not going to mention this desired rate during your negotiations. The second number you should have is your asking rate. This number will be higher than your desired rate and give you some room to maneuver when making negotiations.
