What is a story map?

- [Instructor] Story mapping is a tool to help you visually plan and prioritize your development effort so you build the items most likely to deliver user and business benefit early in the process. Story mapping was first described by Jeff Patton. Jeff's a huge proponent of user-centered design in Agile projects. Story mapping creates a project plan that shows you which elements of your design are essential and should be created first, and which are merely nice to have and should be left for future iterations. Creating this project plan will help everyone on the team understand the relative importance of each interface element, help determine dependencies, and allow you to start the estimation process. The story map can be changed and updated at any point and doing so automatically updates the priority of each piece of work in the plan.
