What is a paper prototype?

- Coding software is expensive. Coding the wrong thing is three times as expensive because it costs you to build, it costs you to rebuild it, and during that rebuild time you missed out on the chance to build something else. So how can you be confident that you're building the right thing first time? One way is to build and test a prototype version. A prototype is something that looks and behaves in the way you intend but doesn't necessarily have all the business logic or hooks into databases, e-commerce engines, or other components. Often, teams will do this using digital tools, but even this level of fidelity takes time and money to put together. That means the team is less likely to explore multiple alternatives. Remember, at this point, you're trying to work out whether your overall concept for the process is good and whether can find their way through the task using the interface elements you've decided to use.
