- [Instructor] Though I would be among the last to claim Photoshop is an awesome UI or UX design tool, I have to admit (laughs) it is an awesome tool for prototyping micro interactions and demonstrating your intent. The thing I most like about the Photoshop to After Effects workflow is you get to build on the strengths of each application. You can create this awesome static design in Photoshop and bring it to life in After Effects. The process starts by you properly preparing the Photoshop file for eventual import into After Effects. If you want to follow along, open the Hike.psd file found in your chapter download. The first thing I want you to pay attention to is the Layers panel itself. It contains groups right here, a gradient overlay, text, a Smart Object. And the Smart Object is this status bar up here. And some shapes right here and here.
