- Sometimes I find myself conducting a study where the end goal is to understand your customer's lifestyle on a behavioral and psychographic level, meaning how they act and how they think. Open-ended research allows you to step into the world of your customers and find out how they're spending their days, where they live and work, who they hang out with, and what core values are important to them. This is exploratory research and it helps you see how your products can be improved to solve problems your customers care about. Mobile diary studies are an excellent technique to incorporate into your exploratory research. With this method, we can discover three key things.
