Creating components

- [Instructor] As a web designer, you're going to often be creating foundational elements, like footers, headers, navigation bars, buttons, and even article cards like I'm showing in this example. These elements could be repeated throughout your design and on a variety of art boards. Sometimes, you'll need to change the foundational elements based on the context in which they're going to be used. In these scenarios, you may be tempted to make copies of these elements and then make the individual changes. This, however, makes it much harder for you to maintain your designs in the long-run. Components, which were previously known as symbols, really solved this issue. They're very flexible, and they help you to create and maintain repeated elements while varying instances for different layouts and context. Let's look at how we can create components.
