Usability testing is an activity that every software development team should perform early and often with their sites and products. It's the fastest and the easiest way to find out whether things you are building will meet the users needs, this includes whether it behaves the way they expect, whether it gives them the tools they need and whether they can even work their way through your screens. There's a big difference between having a good idea for a product or service, and actually delivering it in a way that people want to use. How many members of your team have actually watched real users working with your product? How many do it on a regular basis? Without that understanding, how can you possibly hope to build the best product for your customers. The biggest benefit of usability testing is that it's behavioral.
