Join James Williamson for an in-depth discussion in this video Who is this course for?, part of Web Development Foundations: Web Technologies.
If you're brand new to web design or if you've been working with it for awhile, and have just missed out on the background of the web, and how all of the different pieces fit together, then this course is for you. My goal for this course is to cover the techniques and terms that I wish I could have found all in one place when I was learning web design. Understanding how the web works and which technologies power it makes it a lot easier to understand why you do some of the things that you do as a web designer, and what to focus on while you're learning. This course is also designed to explain much of the terminology you'll run into while working on the web. Often, people just assume you know what something means, and in many cases, web designers might work for years without really understanding an abbreviation or a term. Maybe you don't want, or even need to be a web designer, but you need a better understanding, of how the web works. If that's the case, this course is perfect for you as well.
