Determine payment needs
- Payment is an area where clients sometimes get stuck, new clients especially. If you happen to be working with an existing merchant, this should be a relatively painless process. Even if you're replatforming from an older eCommerce system to a new system, for the most part, you'll just by copying and pasting API keys. They already have the accounts set up and ready to go. If your client has never accepted payment online, understanding payments can be pretty overwhelming. When you're thinking about payment options for an online store, there are four options to consider: PayPal, Amazon, Apple Pay, and regular credit card payments. Let's start with PayPal and Amazon. Both PayPal and Amazon have tools that let their users login to their existing account and pay with those methods. So, PayPal will use their PayPal balance and Amazon will let them use their credit card on file.
