- [Instructor] As a web developer or maybe it's just my personality, I sometimes get so focused on one way of trying to achieve something that I forget there could be other options available. I get tunnel vision. For example, I was recently working on an e-commerce site and needed to give shoppers the ability to add personalizations, think monograms, to any item in their cart. I spent time researching the options, at least the ones I could think of, and concluded that a custom coded solution was the best choice. The problem was that the project budget was too tight for that particular solution, and I got stuck and just couldn't see a way around it. After talking it through with my client, she reminded me of the original goal, let customers personalize the things they buy. She suggested adding a link with monogram styles and options and then instructing customers to just make a note of it at checkout. Voila!
