- Hi, I'm James Williamson, senior author at lynda.com and I wanna welcome you to Web Design Fundamentals. This course is designed to introduce you to the fundamental concepts, learning approaches, and essential tools for anyone who is just starting out in web design. First, we'll explore some of the very basics of web design, and let you experiment a little with the three fundamental technologies that drive it. These are lessons that will let you play around with the code a little bit, and get a feel for what's involved in creating a web page.
After that we'll take a deeper look into what it means to be a web designer, and the various areas of web design that you might be interested in specializing. Next, we'll talk about ways that you can get online quickly, even if you're just starting to learn the skills necessary to be a web designer. Then I'll show you some of the tools available to web designers and how to choose the tool that's right for you. Finally, we'll focus on the actual process of learning web design. What to learn, how to approach learning web design, and how design is different for the web.
