- If you're watching this course, it's unlikely that you have the luxury of starting from scratch to create all of the content on your site. You might have a lot of content that was written by several different people over a long period of time. So, what should you do first? I suggest that in the short term you start by working out which pages get the most traffic, and ensuring that they are as well written as they can be using the guidelines in this course. Then, look at pages with the high bounce rate, that is, people visit them, but don't stay long enough to read everything, or to follow through. The bounce rate indicates that people didn't find what they expected to when they followed the link either from your site, or from a search engine. Check the search terms from the referral link, or the link text from other pages on your site to find out what it was they were really after, and then rewrite the text on the page to make its purpose clearer.
